Preparing Your Vehicle for Winter Driving

There's a lot more to preparing for winter driving than simply slapping some snow tires on your vehicle and calling it a day. As it turns out, a clean blanket of the white stuff can actually have a big impact on your car, and Walser Toyota would like to take a minute to go over everything that you can do to ensure that you stay safe on the road this winter.
By far, one of the biggest things you can do to avoid an accident happens to be one of the easiest. It's simply to spend a few dollars on winter wiper blades and new windshield wiper fluid. Visibility is a big factor in car crashes, and being able to see what's coming your way from a distance can save your life.
Next, make sure that your tires are properly inflated. The outside temperature can have a huge impact on whether your tires are under inflated, over inflated, or just right. Another quick tip is to check your vehicle owner's manual for the correct tire pressure, as it's specific to the vehicle you're driving and not the kind of tire that you have equipped.
Finally, make sure to pack an emergency safety kit in your car. You never know when you'll be snowed in or go off the road, no matter how safe you are, and making sure you have some essential tools on hand will help big time. Some suggested items to keep on board are a flashlight, extra batteries, water, blankets, an ice scraper/snowbrush, flares, and a shovel. It may seem like a lot, but you'll be happy you have them when they're most needed.
Walser Toyota, located at 4401 American Blvd. West in Bloomington, MN 55437 hopes you can use these tips to stay safe this holiday season, and wishes you the best.
